TOURNAMENT FORMAT FOR 2025
The Bordoloi Trophy 2025 follows a multi-stage format designed to bring out the best talent from across the state. The competition begins with the District Round, where teams compete within their respective clubs in their districts to secure a spot in the next stage. The winners from each district then advance to the Cluster Round, where they face off against teams from nearby districts in a highly competitive battle. The top two teams from each cluster move on to the Final Round, which follows a knockout format. Additionally, two wild card entries and two invited teams join the final stage, making it an intense showdown for the championship title.
THREE PHASES OF THE TOURNAMENT
PHASE 1
The District Round
The District Round marks the beginning of the Bordoloi Trophy, where teams from all districts compete to secure their place in the next stage of the tournament. This round serves as the foundation of the competition, ensuring that the best talent from each district gets an opportunity to shine. Teams battle against one another within their respective districts in a league or knockout format, depending on the number of participating teams. The matches in this round are designed to test skill, strategy, and teamwork, providing a highly competitive environment for emerging talents.
The winner from each district earns the right to progress to the Cluster Round, where they will compete against winners from neighboring districts. The District Round is not just about securing a win but also about fostering a strong sporting culture, encouraging young players, and preparing them for the tougher challenges ahead. It lays the groundwork for the tournament, ensuring that only the most deserving teams move forward in their quest for the championship title.
PHASE 2
The Cluster Round
The Cluster Round is the next stage of the competition, where the best teams from each district come together to battle for supremacy within their designated clusters. The districts are grouped into six clusters based on geographical proximity, ensuring a balanced and competitive structure. In this round, the winners of the District Round face off against one another, vying for the coveted title of Cluster Champion.
With the stakes higher than ever, teams must showcase their best strategies, teamwork, and determination to secure their place in the Final Round. The level of competition intensifies as only the top two teams—Champion and Runner-up—from each cluster will earn the right to advance further. The Cluster Round not only highlights regional excellence but also serves as a platform for teams to refine their gameplay before facing the ultimate challenge in the Final Round.
PHASE 3
The Final Round
The Final Round is the pinnacle of the competition, where the best teams from across all clusters battle for the ultimate championship title. This stage brings together the champions and runners-up from each of the six clusters, along with two wild card entries and two invited teams, making it a highly competitive and prestigious showdown.
Held in Guwahati, the Final Round follows a knockout format, ensuring that only the strongest and most resilient teams progress with each match. Every game is a high-stakes encounter, where skill, strategy, and teamwork determine survival. With each round eliminating contenders, the competition becomes fiercer, pushing teams to their limits.
This stage not only crowns the ultimate champion but also serves as a platform to showcase the finest talent, determination, and sportsmanship. The Final Round is where legends are made, as teams leave everything on the field in pursuit of glory.
